Newsletter – January 2026 FRNIX Community NewsA new year, new projects! FRNIX is launching three working groups, a members’ directory and a series of aPEERos to strengthen the community in 2026. New members are already helping to build on this momentum. Editorial by Samuel Triolet, General Delegate of FRNIX
2025 will have been a pivotal year For our association: a new name, a new governance structure and a FRNIX community that is more visible and active than ever before. By clarifying the respective roles of FRNIX, the founding association, and France-IX, the operator of the France IX IXP, we have laid the foundations for a clearer and more robust ecosystem for interconnection in France. Throughout the year, the BGP Workshops and the aPEERos events have shown just how vital it is for our sector to meet, exchange ideas and share best practice. This momentum reinforces our conviction that FRNIX must brings togetheroperators, content providers, system integrators, businesses and local authorities, working together on common standards and practical initiatives. In 2026, we will to build on this collective movement and provide the community with even more resources to build, together, the interconnection of the future.
So, when are you joining us? I agree Heading for 2026 : shaping the standards of tomorrowThis year, FRNIX is opening 3 Working Groups (WG) to move from exchanging ideas to developing practical resources: WG 001 – IXP & Regions : rethinking network infrastructure and peering in France, tailored as closely as possible to local needs. WG 002 – Technical Operations : RPKI, anti-DDoS, BGP… everything that helps to create a more secure, more robust and better-managed network.
- WG 003 – Governance & Strategy : CSR, sovereignty, infrastructure resilience – to embed interconnectivity within a long-term vision.
The decision on whether to set up further groups will be taken by the community at a later date. The community will also decide on the topics to be discussed. At the same time, the'membership directory is currently being developed to raise the profile of each organisation and facilitate networking within the community. A aPEERo per month is already scheduled until the summer, still with the before the FRnOG and the’Annual General Meeting in May as highlights in the life of the association. 2026 will be a year of consolidation, collaboration and the production of useful guidelines for the entire sector. FRNIX looks forward to working with you throughout the year to help achieve this.

The section A Kentik observability solution, now available via France-IX ! France-IX is making Kentik technology accessible to democratise detailed traffic monitoring. Usually reserved for Tier-1 operators, this service is now available to all France-IX customers. It enables granular analysis of traffic flows and in-depth investigation of incidents (DDoS attacks, anomalies), delivered as a pure SaaS solution operated by France-IX. This presents a technical opportunity to raise monitoring standards and gain a better understanding of traffic flows, thereby enabling more effective management and optimisation. A demo session is available to the first 50 people to register. For further information, please visit their dedicated page here. |
